Rewatch: Collapse of the Bending Triads
Why would Lightning Bolt Zolt (and the other Triple Threat Triads) losing their bending not have an effect on the rest of the series?
Why would Lightning Bolt Zolt (and the other Triple Threat Triads) losing their bending not have an effect on the rest of the series?
#oh buckle your seatbelts because i am about to take you on a world of feels #lets just talk about this second #when i first watched this episode #i actually rewound this moment and watched it again #yes #mako does care about korra and he was all upset that she was missing in episode nine#but look at this moment #pure #sheer anger #even just his voice #let her go. #he cares about asami too #he’s her protector #even though he knows shes a big girl #she’s his girl #and he wants to keep her safe
I thought about the whole situation at the end of the episode. And I thought, “That’s a reckless move on Tarrlok’s part…I mean, when Korra gets out and says what happens, he’s done politically, because…”
…
…why?
As far as anyone else is going to know, Korra broke into his office and attacked him because her friends were arrested. He then defended himself, subdued her, and had her taken to prison. Some prison. I guess the whole “carted off to nowhere” thing is a bit of a stretch for him, but really, Korra’s got NOTHING on him. As far as they know. I mean, we all know that Tarrlok struck first—but she was moving to finish it. Where did that line come from? Game of Thrones? “He hit me first!” “Well, you were going to finish it.” I think that was Arya beating up Hot Pie…irrelevant!
What does matter is that Tarrlok can keep his smug smile through all of the Avatar’s accusations. Of course, the people who will side with the Avatar will be the non-benders…which may hurt Amon’s cause…which may have been Tarrlok’s game? Or at least his consolation? Hm. Dangerous and disturbing this puzzle is.
Now, Tenzin will believe Korra, but Tenzin can tell the council that there is, in fact, a Tyrannosaurus eating the doorman RIGHT NOW and the council will disagree with him if Tarrlok says there is no such thing. So Korra’s word is going to be empty when she comes back…
…and Tarrlok will be untouchable. Bolin has offered to rough Tarrlok up before, though, so maybe he can skoosh him this time for putting cuts (and possibly scars?) on his
girlfriend.Of course, the fact that the Avatar and Tarrlok fought is going to be public. The office wall was kind of smashed down and there were holes in the other wall and scorchmarks everywhere and plenty of floor damage. People probably heard the commotion, too. When the council meets “early tomorrow morning,” they’re going to see the wreckage.
So I don’t know where Tarrlok’s going. No one will find her? Um…Avatar disappears in middle of night after fight in your office, friends imprisoned, just how big is his reach?
Of course, ultimately, a masked stranger will save her, and underneath the mask—AMON. Amon’s mask. Double masking. The BLUUUUUUE Spirit! =D
Uuuugh politics. Korra needs to study up before she wrecks shit.
I want to share something that’s kinda bothering me about Legend of Korra.
It’s not a bad thing really, and it’s not an example of bad writing or bad storytelling (actually it’s an example of very good storytelling). It’s just something that’s been bothering me and I don’t think people have really looked at it enough.
When you really think about it, almost everyone in Legend of Korra is extremely alone.
Let me compare this to The Last Airbender for an example. In the first series, when Aang appears, he is immediately greeted by Sokka and Katara. While Sokka is skeptical at first, it doesn’t take him very long to conclude, with Katara, that they need to pack their things and go with Aang. Aang himself is only alone for a very brief time before they come to save him.
By the third episode, they are family, and they are there for him when he discovers the genocide of his race.
Now back to Legend of Korra: Here, Korra starts off alone, and remains alone until partway through the second episode, when she horns her way into the Fire Ferret team. Mako and Bolin didn’t ask her too, and only Bolin showed any support of her doing so, but she did it anyway, just to have friends.
By the third episode, we think that they’re growing into a family when Korra helps Mako save Bolin. But then in episode 4, Korra is, once again, very alone.
Now, their friendship has developed somewhat since then, but even right now, at episode 7, I don’t see Korra being able to really trust either of the brothers, or be able to depend on them when she needs to. Mako because he’s consistently been a bit of an ass to her (I’m not bashing him, this is just how he’s been) and Bolin because I honestly don’t think he’s capable of understanding all that Korra is going through most of the time when it comes to her being the Avatar. Even still, I think Bolin, more than anyone, is capable of being there for Korra when she needs it, but his character has yet to be developed in that direction, and Korra has never asked or relied on him in anyway.
It’s not just Korra though. Mako and Bolin have each other, but they don’t really have anyone else, and Mako’s relationship with Asami is still too young and too conflicted to really bear the weight of either of their pain. Bolin, without Mako, is completely alone, because Korra has already indirectly rejected him, and I don’t see him trying again to reach for that relationship, despite loving her as he does.
Asami too, now that she’s denied her father, is also very much alone, again, just with Mako to rely on, and who knows how that will go, considering that Mako’s feelings are also conflicted?
These four are our Krew, they’re our new Gaang. But, unlike with ATLA, they are not yet a family. Each of them, individually, is still very much alone, with only bare tendrils of relationships there to hold them up.
Tenzin and Lin too, but especially Lin, both have their own loneliness. Tenzin has Pema and his family, but when it comes to his duty to the Council, his duty to the city, his duty to the Avatar, he has no one there to hold him up. He too must stand on his own.
And Lin…poor Lin. She has no one. And yet she has the duty and the passion to protect the city, no matter if anyone is at her side or not. And when someone (Tenzin) is at her side, she can’t trust or rely on him either, because his first concern will always be with Pema and his own family. No matter his feelings for Lin, or hers for him, she will always come second to them, and she knows that.
And the airbender kids, do they have any friends? All we’ve seen them interact with is within their own family, and although we know there are air acolytes on the island, it is doubtful that there are any young enough to be their friends. So they are kind of alone too.
Of course there’s Skoochy too, but no one canonically cares about Skoochy, so I won’t even bother.
I just want them to all be a big happy family, and I want them to come together and support each other and be there for each other despite all the romance drama, and let their friendship come first before anything else. But everyone in this show is so stubborn and isolated and determined to deal with their own problems that I honestly don’t know if that will happen or not.
And now I’m crying. Sorry guys, goodnight.
The Mech’s that the Equalists use have weaknesses in the design that if taken out would disable the machine. And since Lin is now outside of the Law, i have a feeling that this will come up and they will have to fight more of these. The Mech has four main weaknesses.
One: The driver.
While the Armor is unbendable Platinum, the driver inside is still vulnerable to the shaking and smashing of the attacks against the hull. If the hit is hard enough, the shock could disable the driver.
Two: The Glass.
The driver is protected by the strong armor, however, the glass is not as strong and is capable of being broken. As shown when Lin almost took down that one mech by herself.
Three. The Support.
Over all, the mech is extremely stable with its tripod stance. With out the support wheel in the back, the machine would become too heavy and would be easily knocked over. Destroy the support and you cripple the mech. However, the spport is most likely made of platinum. So instead of cutting clean through, one would only need to compromise the integrity of the design to topple it.
Four: The Power Supply
The power supply is located on the back of the machine. It is also most likely made out of platinum, but there are two tubes that provide power to the mech from the supply on the back. Those are most likely not made of platinum, at least not completely. If they were cut, then the mech would have no power and no way to move. They would be trapped.
What’s your problem, bub?
Can I just make a few comments
one: Mako why did you drag this out so long holy shit you are hilarious
two: watch Bolin. Look at how casual he is. He knows what he’s doing. He and Mako have obviously done this play a lot.
three: oh my god Asami you are so precious MAKO MAKO WATER YOU DOING MAKO HOLY SHIT BY BOYFRIEND IS HAVING A SEIZURE WHAT HOLY SHIT FIRE
so yeah I’m Hollyn and that was my analysis of this clip.
Must…have…bromotions…flashbacks.
Avatars learning the other 3 elements.
Avatar Aang and Avatar Roku got to travel around the world to master the 3 elements (aside from their native element) while Korra was stuck in the Southern Water Tribe, only to try mastering Airbending in Republic City.
Roku found out he was the Avatar when he turned 16.
Aang found out he was the Avatar when he was 12 (War reasons)
Korra found out she was the Avatar below the age of 10, and had the White Lotus kept her safe in the Southern Water Tribe to master the elements, Aang may have feared that the next Avatar would not be safe and cause another genocide. She had her own compound
while Howl was watchingand sometimes isn’t allowed to take Naga out for a stroll, This is why she has a hard time mastering Air, for air is the element of freedom. She spent her 17 years in a isolated placeHow do you master Earth in the South Pole anyway? nvmand is always watched, she never had freedom until she escaped to Republic City to train Airbending with Tenzin.Maybe Aang also wanted Korra to know her true identity as the Avatar in a young age so that she wouldn’t be shocked and confused. The sad thing is, being the Avatar is the only thing that makes her feel great, she’s not like Aang who is hesitant to admit he’s the Avatar, she acknowledges it. I’m pretty sure Aang and Roku experienced being “normal”. But for Korra, she knew she was the Avatar from the start. That is why Amon is truly horrifying for her, what is she without her bending? It’s what makes her special.
